$6,000,000 in Federal Funding Awarded to Byrne Pelofsky Clients

Building bridges to use public sector funding to support nonprofits is part of what we love about fundraising. A year-long effort to secure federal appropriations for our client-partners recently resulted in three significant allocations from the offices of Congressman Emanuel Cleaver II (D-MO), Representative Sharice Davids (D-KS) and Senator Roy Blunt (R-MO). The competitive omnibus funding will move critical projects forward for each of these well-deserving organizations.

$2,000,000 will help Missouri Valley College in Marshall, Missouri, build a new School of Nursing. This allocation was part of the $6,000,000+ secured by Congressman Cleaver for healthcare initiatives in his District.

“On behalf of the entire Missouri Valley College campus community, I am extremely grateful for Congressman Cleaver’s help on this important community project. Missouri Valley College is proud to be able to build a new state-of-the-art nursing and health sciences building in order to better serve our Marshall/Saline county community, as well as the entire state of Missouri, by graduating excellent nurses,” said Dr. Bonnie Humphry, President, Missouri Valley College. “This building will allow our nursing program to grow and new health related programs to be developed which will help close the gap of needed health professionals in rural areas,” she added.

In another injection of funding to support education and workforce development, Kansas City Kansas Community College received $1,950,000 in appropriations to fund equipment for their new Automation Engineering Technology Program. This is all part of their new 119,000 square foot KCK Community, Education, Health and Wellness Center.  “Our team worked in tandem with local officials and conducted detailed reviews of each proposal to ensure they met strong standards with a high return on investment,” Representative Davids said in her press release announcement.

Byrne Pelofsky is working with MRIGlobal on their Our Science, Your Life capital campaign which has raised over $15,000,000 to renovate their Kimball Laboratories. Senator Roy Blunt allocated $2,000,000 towards this effort to modernize these high-tech facilities, which are vital to attracting the world’s most innovative scientists to Kansas City.
