Throughout April, Byrne Pelofsky has been working with Swope Health to support mass vaccination (mass-vax) event efforts. In partnership with Community Builders of Kansas City, Swope Health has facilitated three events and administered an estimated 4,000 doses of the COVID-19 vaccine. The mass-vax drive-through events took place at the Kansas City Zoo, Friendship Baptist Church, and Concord Fortress of Hope Church.

The purpose of the mass-vax events is to vaccinate the masses, with a goal of bringing the vaccine into neighborhoods to reach people who haven’t had a chance to receive it yet. Byrne Pelofsky was approached for the collaboration as a community organization convener. With the help of volunteers, Byrne Pelofsky became a “call-center”, answering hundreds of phone calls to get community members registered for the mass-vax events.
