Client Success Story: Guadalupe Centers Receives Massive Grants to Fight COVID-19

Guadalupe Centers Federal Credit Union (GCFCU) is a Community Development Financial Institution (CFDI) providing local communities with financial products and education to empower them and to ensure economic opportunity for all. Byrne Pelofsky recently helped GCFCU secure a $1,800,000 grant from the U.S. Department of the Treasury as part of a $1.25 Billion stimulus package. The grant will be made through the Treasury’s CDFI Rapid Response Program (CDFI RRP) and will provide necessary capital for CDFIs to respond to economic challenges created by the COVID-19 pandemic, particularly in underserved communities.

Additionally, Guadalupe Centers & the National Association of Hispanic Nurses Kansas City Chapter (NAHN-KC) recently secured a $100,000 grant from the Kansas City, Missouri Health Department to improve COVID-19 coordination and infrastructure and promote vaccine engagement in Kansas City’s Hispanic community. NAHN-KC was formed in 2001 to give Hispanic nurses a voice impacting the health care of the Hispanic population. Throughout the pandemic, these bilingual, bicultural nurses have worked tirelessly to treat COVID-19 patients. They represent a trusted member of the community.

Congratulations to Guadalupe Centers and thank you for all you do to support Kansas City’s Hispanic communities.
