Known to its families as Astra Day School, The Kansas City Autism Training Center (KcATC) is committed to helping children on the Autism Spectrum fulfill their potential through ethical, evidence-based treatment, education, and training. Byrne Pelofsky has been working with KcATC over the past twelve months to grow their resource development efforts through grant research and writing and through major gifts identification, cultivation and solicitation.

The program provides individually-designed, one-on-one direct autism services to children aged 18 months through 14, and their families. It also offers a preschool that enrolls both typically developing students and those on the autism spectrum. KcATC therapists design and deliver individualized treatment plans for each child enrolled so they can eventually succeed at home and within their own public or private school. KcATC also provides parent and caregiver training to ensure the skills learned in our program transfer to the home.

KcATC is one of only two non-profit programs of its kind in the Kansas City Metropolitan Area in which children learn and interact in a center-based format that is more like a school than a clinical office setting. This offers myriad benefits for children on the spectrum, including the opportunity to develop social skills and make a smoother transition to the public/private school setting.
