The Downtown Community Education Center will serve as an anchor institution for Kansas City, Kansas. The Center will provide opportunities for social and economic mobility for its residents and serve as a national model for future educational institutions across the country. The new building will also provide students with wrap-around services from KCKCC’s project partners which include Kansas City Kansas Public Schools, the YMCA of Greater Kansas City, Swope Health, Wyandot Behavioral Health Network and Community America Credit Union. Together, these organizations are aiming to reverse the vicious cycle of generational poverty, collectively taking our community’s most vulnerable citizens by the hand and leading them to jobs that will provide them a successful wage, financial freedom and open the door to a very different future for them and their entire family.
This is a transformational gift from the Sunderland Foundation. It will be combined with other philanthropic sources to raise $35 million by the end of the year, which is halfway to its goal of fully funding this exciting project. Thank you to the Sunderland Foundation for this vote of confidence and your leadership support!
