Client Success Story: Swope Health Services Secures CARES Act Funding

Byrne Pelofsky is pleased to announce that our client, Swope Health, received $3,400,000 from Jackson County and $52,000 from Platte County in CARES Act funding to support their COVID-19 relief services. Byrne Pelofsky prepared and submitted proposals to both Jackson and Platte County for CARES Act support. The Jackson County funding will be used to update Swope Health’s COVID-19 related services, improve their facilities located in Jackson County and protect patients. The Platte County funding will provide COVID relief funding specifically for Swope’s northland clinic.

For 51 years, Swope Health Services (SHS), a 501c3 nonprofit organization, has provided comprehensive primary care, medical, dental, behavioral health and enabling services to the Kansas City metropolitan area’s low-income residents. SHS operates seven full-time clinics, two part-time clinics and a mobile medical unit.

SHS is a Federally Qualified Health Center (FQHC) under the Health Resources and Services Administration’s Bureau of Primary Health Care. SHS Behavioral Health Services is also a Certified Community Behavioral Health Organization under the Missouri Department of Mental Health. The dual designation as an FQHC and Certified Community Behavioral Health Organization is a unique distinction among its national counterparts.
