Partner Spotlight: Kansas City Autism Training Center

Known to its families as Astra Day School, Kansas City Autism Training Center (KcATC) is committed to helping children on the Autism Spectrum fulfill their potential through ethical, evidence-based treatment, education, and training. Byrne Pelofsky has been working with KcATC over the past twelve months to grow their resource development efforts through grant research and writing and through major gifts identification, cultivation and solicitation.

The program provides individually-designed, one-on-one direct autism services to children aged 18 months through 14, and their families. It also offers a preschool that enrolls both typically developing students and those on the autism spectrum. KcATC therapists design and deliver individualized treatment plans for each child enrolled so they can eventually succeed at home and within their own public or private school. KcATC also provides parent and caregiver training to ensure the skills learned in our program transfer to the home.

The program has been transformational for its families and students:

“Astra was and still is a symbol of Hope.  When Evan was first diagnosed, we hoped for a better life and direction for him, one that we weren’t sure was there.  Astra has succeeded in making so many hopes a reality, and we are so grateful for that. I don’t know where would be without Astra, but we know that he and our family are better because he went there. – An Astra Mom

“Four years ago, we moved back to our hometown of Kansas City. Shortly after that time, our son Luke was diagnosed with Autism. Astra has not only given us our child back, but has given us the best version of himself and a hope for his future.”    – An Astra Dad

KcATC is one of only two non-profit programs of its kind in the Kansas City Metropolitan Area in which children learn and interact in a center-based format that is more like a school than a clinical office setting. This offers myriad benefits for children on the spectrhttps://byrnepelofsky.com/grantwriting/um, including the opportunity to develop social skills and make a smoother transition to the public/private school setting.

We are thrilled to partner with Kansas City Autism Training Center/Astra Day School and we look forward to supporting this incredible organization on its continued path to growth.
