At its core, The Sewing Labs (TSL) recognizes sewing as a transformative art that not only changes pieces of fabric but also the fabric of lives. This transformative process is not just about crafting garments but also about stitching together a community and a future for those who are economically disadvantaged.
Programs and Impact
The Sewing Labs offers a variety of programs focused on workforce development, job skills training, and job placement within the industrial sewing industry. A cornerstone of these programs is the Sewing Salon Training Program—a 30-week apprenticeship that equips apprentices to become certified industrial sewing machine operators. This program is recognized as a Registered Apprenticeship by the US & MO Department of Labor, ensuring high standards and valuable certification for graduates.
