Client Success Story: Guadalupe Centers Names Beto Lopez as new CEO

Nov 19, 2021

Joe “Beto” Lopez, a long-standing advocate for Kansas City’s Westside community, has been named CEO of Guadalupe Centers. Byrne Pelofsky has been working with Guadalupe Centers for over ten years on their grant writing and resource development activities.

Beto served as Guadalupe Centers’ Board President from 2011-2013 and was most recently Chief Operating Officer. He brings over 20 years of commercial real estate, finance and development experience to the table. In addition to serving the Westside community, Lopez serves as Mayor Pro Temp for the City of Lee’s Summit where he is a councilman for District 3.

Guadalupe Centers include a range of services including bi-lingual education from pre-kindergarten to high school. Additional programs include youth development, recreation, family support, workforce development, health support, senior services and financial services through the Guadalupe Centers Credit Union.

Beto succeeds long-time CEO Cris Medina, who spent 41 years at the helm.

“Beto is compassionate about his team as well as the individuals and families Guadalupe Centers serves. He is committed to meeting the needs of staff, clients, students, and everyone who benefits from the revered agency,” says Lisa Roush Morse, Vice President of Byrne Pelofsky and long-time account manager for Guadalupe Centers.

“From a fundraising perspective, Beto brings a unique skillset to his work. He values relationships within the community and listens to the views of all stakeholders, from the Mayor and our elected leaders in DC, to the parents of the youngest learners in the early education program and the homebound seniors who rely on the agency’s bi-state meal delivery programs.”

Congratulations to Beto and the Guadalupe Centers team. We look forward to continuing our important work together.
