Client Success Story: KC Kosher Meals on Wheels Secures Sunderland Foundation Grant

May 25, 2021

Congratulations to the Gan Chabad Torah Learning Center (TLC) on its recently awarded $250,000 grant from the Sunderland Foundation, which will help them reach their $1.2 million capital campaign goal. With the help of Byrne Pelofsky’s consulting team, TLC is raising funds to support the expansion of their KC Kosher Meals on Wheels facility to support their rapidly growing meal delivery program.  KC Kosher Meals on Wheels aims to enable seniors, disabled and special needs people to live independently at home through the delivery of five nutritious kosher meals each week, personal contact and related services.

TLC had a long-term plan to upgrade their KC Kosher Meals on Wheels facility, however, when demand for their services doubled in the wake of the pandemic, the organization decided to accelerate the campaign. The addition will include a large kitchen, storage, multi-purpose room, classrooms, offices, and small library. A larger, more functional space will allow the program to double the amount of clients served through both delivered meals and on-site programs.

“KC Kosher Meals on Wheels is grateful for the opportunity to work with the Sunderland Foundation to complete our capital campaign.  We appreciate their generosity and commitment to combatting food insecurity in our community and look forward to reaching our goal in the near future,” said Esther Friedman, Director of Gan Chabad Torah Learning Center.
