At its core, The Sewing Labs (TSL) recognizes sewing as a transformative art that not only changes pieces of fabric but also the fabric of lives. By turning simple materials into beautiful, functional products, TSL empowers individuals to create new opportunities for themselves. This transformative process is not just about crafting garments but also about stitching together a community and a future for those who are economically disadvantaged.
Programs and Impact
The Sewing Labs offers a variety of programs focused on workforce development, job skills training, and job placement within the industrial sewing industry. A cornerstone of these programs is the Sewing Salon Training Program—a 30-week apprenticeship that equips apprentices to become certified industrial sewing machine operators. This program is recognized as a Registered Apprenticeship by the US & MO Department of Labor, ensuring high standards and valuable certification for graduates.
