Their annual Charitable Giving Report is based on $46 Billion in United States-based charitable giving. The report covers 12 nonprofit subsectors who all showed growth in 2021.
Highlights of the report include the following:
- Online giving grew 9% in 2021, representing a three-year increase of 42%
- 28% of online contributions were made from a mobile device
- Small, medium, and large nonprofits in the United States now raise more than 10% of their fundraising online
“Charities of all sizes were rewarded for their resilience and donors were more generous than ever in 2021,” says Steve MacLaughlin, with The Blackbaud Institute.
The report represents a good opportunity for nonprofits to benchmark their giving against same-sized organizations and allows for powerful and effective strategies to set new targets and market, in some cases, to a new mix of funders.
