We are thrilled to announce that our client, Kansas City Kansas Community College (KCKCC), received $12,00,000 in American Rescue Plan Act (ARPA) funds from the State of Kansas for the construction of the KCK Community Education, Health & Wellness Center. Making record investments in higher education, workforce and economic development was a priority for Governor Kelly in her most recent state appropriations budget, and we are grateful to the Governor for recognizing KCKCC and their important efforts in workforce development for Wyandotte County.
“This budget delivers on promises I made when I was first elected, including investing in our economic development tools and funding higher education,” Governor Kelly said in her April 20 press release. “The budget restores higher education funding and makes significant one-time investments in need-based aid, deferred maintenance, and workforce development through community and tech college funding.”
KCKCC and other strategic community organizations are collaborating on a $70,000,000 capital campaign to build the KCK Community Education, Health and Wellness Center (KCKCEHWC) – a 170,000 square foot educational complex in downtown Kansas City, Kansas. KCKCC, Swope Health, YMCA of Greater Kansas City, Wyandot Behavioral Health Network, KCK Public Schools, and CommunityAmerica Credit Union are partnering to provide multi-level education, workforce services and critical physical and mental health care wrap around services within the KCKCEHWC that currently do not exist in downtown Kansas City, Kansas. Byrne Pelofsky is providing campaign management services to KCKCC and the project partners for this major capital fundraising effort. The KCKCEHWC will help train employees in high-paying, higher-tech jobs in an effort to fill the openings, keep the wages earned local, and to help the community thrive. This center will be a national model for nonprofit collaborations across the country.
Congratulations to KCKCC and all the partner organizations for this major step forward in the campaign. And thank you to Governor Kelly for your support.
