Client Success Story: Swope Health Secures $1.4M Mabee Challenge Grant

Byrne Pelofsky is delighted to announce that our client, Swope Health, was awarded a $1,400,000 challenge grant from the J.E. & L.E. Mabee Foundation towards the construction of their state-of-the-art PACE KC Adult Wellness Center. Together with new programming for the elderly, PACE KC (Program of All-Inclusive Care for the Elderly), will provide a unique continuum of care and services to citizens over the age of 55, augmenting the current infrastructure of health and wellness services offered daily to the citizenry of the Kansas City area.

Swope Health has also named Wesley Fields (pictured left)  as Honorary Chairman of the PACE KC Adult Wellness Center capital campaign. Fields is partner in charge of the Kansas City office of Bryan Cave Leighton Paisner, LLP specializing in public finance and corporate transactions.

The planned location of the 32,000 square foot, two-story building will be adjacent to the Swope complex at 4141 Dr. Martin Luther King Jr., Boulevard and has an opening target date of 2023. The nationally recognized PACE model features an interdisciplinary team of providers who concentrate on whole-person care in an effort to reduce ER visits and to address health and wellness needs in less of a traditional silo approach. It will feature medical care, an adult day center, rehab gym, computer lab, library, arts and crafts centers, bathing suite, low-stimulation memory care, outdoor recreation space and meeting facilities.

Congratulations to our friends at Swope Health on this enormous step forward on an important campaign. To make a gift or pledge in support of the capital campaign, contact Angela Smart, Executive Director of the Swope Health Foundation, at asmart@swopehealth.org.
